Mention the words credit repair kits to a someone from a credit repair agency and watch them cringe. They will try every trick in the book to keep you from repairing your own credit. How do I know? Because I have experienced it myself. It is more beneficial to them for you to continue to believe that the process is difficult and by attempting to do it yourself you could possibly ruin your credit forever. In this article I am going to state some facts which will allow you to determine the best route for your credit situation.
The first fact is this - it is illegal for anyone to charge you for credit repair before they have done anything. These legal criminals have found away to get around that. They call it set up fees, membership fees and a variety of other names. The bottom line is it's illegal. Here's some more food for thought - how can these agencies and law firms run ads stating that they can repair anyones credit without even seeing a credit report. All that any agency or law firm can do is tell you about their past successes and attempt to predict your results based on that.
Here is another fact that I would like to point out. Do you truly believe that any of these agencies or law firms have some sort of magical information that no one else has? That sounds a little ridiculous to say the least. There is nothing that they can do that you cannot do yourself.
You need four basic things to repair your own credit. The first is knowledge of the process. The second is basic organizational skills. The third is persistence, and the fourth is time. It is important that you understand that you didn't get into your current credit situation overnight and chances are your not going to get out of it overnight.
The biggest killer of credit reports is procrastination. The longer you wait to repair your credit the more money you are loosing. The bright side of things is the fact that repairing your credit yourself will save you hundreds of dollars. I do however want you to beware of any credit repair kit that ask you to send in any false information or to lie in anyway.
