2) Have a specialty, and make sure it is clear on your application. Have one subject at which you excel. Exhibit your strongest skills. A diverse and well-rounded student body is made up of students who each possess a specific strength.
Because it is difficult to compare your achievements in extracurricular activities with those of others, don't stress them too strongly. Make mention of them, but stress your academic achievements.

3) Have your essays proofread and edited by a native English speaker. Take care not to have them over-edited so that they seem to have been written by someone else. Just have a native English speaker with a good command of the language look your essays over for spelling, grammatical, and syntax errors. It is OK to have one or two mistakes, but you don't want your essay to be filled with errors.
4) Show your interest in the school by including contacts you have had with students and information about any friends or relative you may have who have graduated from the school. Of course, it would be unlikely for you to be able to make physical visits to the campus, but virtual visits online and through e friends are the next best thing.
