It's easy to understand why some people choose not to quit smoking with all the confusing and conflicting information about how to quit. It's hard to know where to start. Waiting for a simple solution to help you quit smoking probably will not happen any time soon. It will be difficult and a long process but will be well worth all the health benefits you will gain.

Of course, stopping smoking increases your health but most people choose to smoke becasue it's too hard to quit. If you truly want to quit smoking and are willing to make an effort then you will succeed. It will not be easy between all the temptations and daily life stress, it's no wonder that everyone doesn't smoke a pack a day.

Tip #1 Having a good reason to quit is a must in order to be successful. Deciding to stop because the sun is bright is not a sufficient reason. For the whole stop smoking process to be successful, the deisre to quit must come from within.

Tip #2 Create a reward system that will help you stay on track. Set small rewards for yourself as you progress towards your goal. A weekly reward if you stay on target can be a great motivational tool.

Tip #3 Plan out your stopping strategy. Decide how you want to try to quit and stick to it. Set a specific amount of time for your plan. If after a time, say six weeks you have not quit, work on a new plan. This will allow ample time to try each method, while still giving yourself flexibility to try something else.

Tip #4 Determine why you smoke. If the reason behind your smoking is due to a stressful lifestyle, you will need to figure out ways to reduce the stress. Whatever your reason for smoking, it will need to be dealt with before you can be successful.

Tip #5 Seek out help from your friends and family. You need support as you are trying to quit, and this will help you to ensure that you are not alone in the entire process.

Tip #6 Look for someone to quit with you. If you are entirely on your own, you are going to be much more likely to slip back into smoking. If someone is working with you and holding you accountable, you are more likely to struggle to succeed. Working to quit smoking is not easy, but hard tasks are much easier to accomplish with a partner.

Tip #7 Be sure to get plenty of sleep. When you first quit smoking, your energy levels will be lower for a couple of weeks. By getting enough rest, you will be less likely to be moody and cranky.
