In dealing with large format digital printing, one of the key questions I am asked is whether advertising with bumper stickers would be effective for my clients. Some times they are and some times they are not which I will let the client know. The way I filter out whether they would be effective for a client is by asking them a few key questions. The criteria I ensure is met are:
* Will the target market who are using the bumper stickers have a vehicle to apply the stickers to? (If the campaign is aimed at children then a custom shaped sticker will be a lot better as a bumper sticker is all about getting impressions)
* Do you have a logo or line which people will remember? Will your bumper be memorable because of it? For a small business I would heavily recommend having a call to action. Usually to my clients I will tell them this as their budgets mean they need immediate results.
* If you are looking to envoke repeat customers then bumpers are the way to go. The reason being is if your customer sticks them to their vehicle, everytime they need to contact you, they have an easy to find place to get your number from. Better yet they will be reminded of you everytime they see it.
* Do bumper stickers get stuck to the item you sell or service? Then why not stick it on there yourself? This will envoke repeat business aswell as a reminded to your customer of who serviced their needs. That way the next time they need your services you will be available to them conveniently on that product. Or when they use that product they will always be reminded of you.
* Bumper stickers are perfect for targetting local clientele. Think about it for a minute. If someone sticks it on their car or window then people around them will see the sticker. Therefore this is perfect for locally based businesses.
So if you fulfill one of these criteria then this form of advertising may be useful to you. Just remember to analyse your market and try to measure the success. It is also better to start small and test them out on a sample before proceeding with a larger order.
