the time to relive your childhood and pass down some old-fashioned games to your children. Here are a few of the games my children enjoy:Kick the can: Equipment needed - 1 empty coffee can, area with lots of places to hide. How to play: Select one child to be 'it'. 'It' hides her eyes and counts to 20 while the other children hide. 'It' begins trying to find children that are hidden. If she spots a child, she runs back to the can and jumps over it saying, '1-2-3- on (child's name). That child must come out of hiding and sit on the curb. If a child that is hidden can get out of hiding without being caught, she can kick the can and free all those that have been caught. Everyone goes and hides again. Great for ages 6 and up.Sardines: No equipment needed, just a hiding place where several children can hide at one time. This game can be played indoors or out.How to play: Select one child to hide. All the other children go off in different directions trying to find the hidden child. Everyone who finds the hidden child hides with her until almost all of the children are hidden in the same place. Part of the fun is trying to keep everyone quiet who is hidden together. The last person to find the group starts a new game.Tag games: Tag games are easy and fun and a great way to keep kids and parents active.Sock tag: Equipment needed - 1 tube or knee sock for each child and adult. How to play: Tuck a sock into the back of your pants with part of it hanging down like a tail. Everyone runs around and tries to pull each other's sock. If you get your sock pulled, do three push-ups over the sock, pick it up, tuck it in and play again. Veggie tag: No equipment needed.Old-fashioned Games for Children
