The blender has two different speeds, a slower and a faster option. There is a low-speed pulse control that allows you to blend with more precision.The base of the blender is a classic beehive shape, thus the origins of its brand name. It is covered in chrome, and has rubber feet on the bottom to add stability and to keep it from moving as you are mixing. The jar that comes with it has a 40-ounce capacity. It is ribbed and tapered for a better look and better mixing quality.This is a very simple appliance to clean. The stainless-steel blade is removable, so that along with the jar, the lid and the measuring insert can be taken and washed with hot soapy water. The jar is the only part that is safe to place in the dishwasher. The blender is supposed to be made to mix heavier ingredients, but the fact is that its performance with such things isn't really up to par with other blenders. The food will overwhelm with blade, and it will gradually slow to a stop. Then you have to take of the lid, and fix the food down in the jar, and start again. This appliance does work much better with lighter ingredients, but even with the constant mixing simple milkshakes or other similar things, after a couple of years, it may blow a fuse or just give up.
