Strabismus - don’t leave it for too late

Is your child suffering from strabismus? Never leave his eyes untreated. Or it may be too late for him to get back his normal vision if he ages beyond 6.

Strabismus has been a pculiar property of vision which is normal in cases of herbivores like rabbits, dear etc. but an eye condition in case of carnivores and human beings. Strabismus gives a 3-D vision and you might feel that you are watching a movie in I-Max cinema theatre. But the consequenses of the condition is not so enjoyable as it seems.
Strabismus is a mis-aligned vision. The cause is still unknown which may be linked with gentics. It is genrally an infant eye condition which if kept untreated till 6 years or over, you may not get the chance to gift your child a binocular normal vision. It has been seen that in older people it may lead to complete vision impairment.
So one may ask what treatment is available?
Wearing glasses and eye patches can improve situation or in some cases even it cures strabismus completely. Medication is also available in the form of atropines and miotics which controls the flexing of the eye muscles. miotics helps in proper focussing of eye.
Eye excercises has also been reported to cure the disease. Some trials were also undergone with boutlinum toxin injection which allows relaxing of some muscles which helps to restore the normal positioning of the eyes. But we would never recommend this treatment since it has some dangerous side effects and hope you wont be taking risk with your dear kid.

Surgery has been a good option always. But it is to be remembered that infants less than 6 months should not undertake the risk of this type of surgeries. Adult people undergoing surgeries are not common, but often people undergo such surgeries in order to gain self esteem.
Strabusmus is seriously affects a man or a woman's personality and often they avoid social meetings due to their misaligned eye focussing. The first and the primary awareness that we have to bring in is that this disease can happen to anybody, and treat this as a disease only. There is no kudos for you to earn by making a strabismus patient feel that he is not so lucky as you. The next thing is to this is, for parents, dont neglect this type of impairments and get your child treated.
