Why Do Many People Prefer Purebred Dogs

by Ferd Emy Ferdinand Okeke Nnaemeka Okeke

In recent times, dog breeds recognized by kennel clubs stick to very rigid standards. Despite the fact that these standards are so rigorous, they are subtle,to the extent of being invisible to many people. Even when you go to a dog breeder, and demand from him or her to allow you to see his or her show quality puppies and pet quality puppies; both of which are purebreds, you will not be able to tell the difference at all.

Even those that are pet quality, purebred dogs can be pretty expensive. This is because its high-priced to raise them, but also because when you purchase a purebred dog, you have a warranty about how the dog will be like when it grows up, both in physical appearance, and in personality and behavior.

Notwithstanding, some dog breeders dont think that the breeding process is finished, and they try to make new breeds by crossing purebred dogs from various breeds. These mixed dog breeds are made with the intention of getting the best features of the parents.

Mixed dog breeds are often unsuccessfull because some genes are recessive, while others are dominant resulting in not being the one the breeder desired and the pups might end up with more than one bad traits from both or one of the parents. Moreover, first generation mixed dog breeds can vary greatly from litter to litter, even with the same type of parents. Its also not uncommon to have puppies of the same litter with different features in form, size, color, and hair.

As a result of this, it takes many generations to produce true mixed dog breeds that will constantly give the same features, even second, third or 4th generation puppies will occasionally give nasty befuddlement by exhibiting a trait that managed to remain recessive up until that moment.

Nevertheless, some mixed dog breeds have showed consistency and have gone popular. Perhaps the most renowned of these mixed dog breeds involves the mixing of Poodles.

Mixed poodle breeds are popular due to the fact that they result in individuals with a coat that sheds very small and that make very little dander, as well as strong hypoallergenic properties, which they get from their poodle parent. In addition, they get at least one good trait from the other parents breed. For example, the Cockapoo shows the loving and cozy tendency of the Cocker Spaniel.

Nevertheless, despite the gains or lineage of mixed dog breeds, big kennel clubs refuse to acknowledge them. This is not astonishing, given how stringent they are in their rules and selections.
