Your kids need a pair of sunglasses, do you know that?

The goal is to keep kids' eyes healthy
On the first day of summer, Saturday, June 20 at South Cowichan Eyecare , a free sun glass give away programme was arranged to spread the awareness to protect children eyes from UV rays.

UV damage can leave eyes itching, watering, red or swollen and sensitive to light. Exposure to UV increases a child's chances of developing cataracts and macular degeneration later in life.
According to eye doctor Trevor Miranda of South Cowichan Eyecare:

It is important to protect children eyes from sun at a very early age.

People get more UV exposure by the time they're 16 than during the rest of their life.

Even parents who understand the need for sunscreen on skin are often unaware of the importance of sun protection for their children's eyes.

Studies show, that children's retinas absorb more UV rays than those of adults, so they are even more susceptible to damage.

While people are concerned about their own eye protection, they often forget about their kids' eyes.

Possible damage from exposure can accumulate over time.

Short exposures can have the same effect as a single long exposure, causing growths on the front of their eyes.

UV damage can leave eyes itching, watering, red or swollen and sensitive to light.

So please be careful if your child is under the age of five or between five to sixteen be causes about UV rays, it can damage your child's eye enormously and for life time.
