5 Easy Tips to Make Your PC Faster

by Ryan Jensen

It is amazing how fast paced our lives are becoming. A task that takes us any amount of time can be done by computers so much faster. But few things are as frustrating as a PC that runs slowly and takes too long to load things. If you are a professional who depends on a fast running computer for your work, it's even worse. It can cost you if it happens at a bad time.

The biggest issue with a slow PC is that not only can you not perform all your most important activities, but you take up time that could have been spent moving on to other important projects. Additionally, a slow computer may lead to crashes if the problem is not identified and fixed as soon as possible.

There is no one reason that your PC begins to perform poorly. It can be complicated to try to identify all the possible problems, but it is safe to say that your computer's problems and decreased speed are a result of many factors.

The most common problems that cause a computer to experience problems come from viruses and spyware that will greatly affect your computer's operation. Other reasons that cause a computer to slowdown are, insufficient memory, hard drive errors, fragmentation issues, registry errors, and not enough RAM for the number of programs you are running.

If you have had enough with your slow performing PC, do not lose hope. You can do a lot to help it become faster and more efficient. The first thing you should try is the most apparent - upgrade the hardware so it's up-to-date with current standards. For example, you will want at least 512MB of RAM and a faster processor (1.8GHz or more).

If you have made those upgrades and your computer still doesn't seem to be speedy enough, you should try cleaning it. If you have no idea what that requires, don't worry because it's not that difficult and you should be able to get your computer running faster after following a few steps.

1. Make sure to run your anti-virus software regularly. If yours is out of date, or if you don't have one, get new, up to date anti-virus software. There are viruses all over on the internet and there's always a chance your computer could get infected.

2. A trustworthy spyware removal program is very helpful. Download one and run it on a bi-monthly basis.

3. Your hard drive needs to be defragmented regularly. Defragmenting is the process of collecting files from all around your computer and bunching them together to make more space available. It can take some time, but it will always make your PC faster.

4. Computers come with all sorts of program that you don't need and will probably never use. It helps to get rid of all of them to make space available for more important programs.

5. Don't run multiple programs at the same time if you don't have to. This puts a heavy load on your processor and will always make the computer slower.

These simple steps, when done properly and regularly, can save you a lot of time and money on computer repairs. So stop your computer from acting up and running slow by making sure that you optimize your computer performance on a regular basis.
