Angels & Airwaves: No Weak Link In First Album

by Tom Alder

When we first heard that Blink 182 members Tom, Mark, and Travis have collectively decided to take on an indefinite hiatus (read: break up) we can't help but feel disappointed because we may be seeing the last of a great band. We all thought we'd never hear another good music from any of the three members until Tom announced his new band, Angels & Airwaves.

The former members of Blink 182 were known to be very talented so it seems like we will not be hearing good stuff from a new band, whether one of the three is fronting them. But that was not the case when Angels & Airwaves came out with their debut album We Don't Need to Whisper.

Tom proved that he is a formidable musician, armed with the right stuff to come out with good music regardless of which band he plays in. As the front man of the new band, his voice gave life to each of the tracks. He showcased his powerful vocals and gave gut-wrenching performances each time.

The record is close to remarkable. It'd exceed your expectations about the band's music. It did mine. The tracks are made up of good lyrics, catchy melodies, nice rifts, and great sound. All of these elements when combined together, plus the amazing vocals of Tom make up a great first album. This is something worth listening to.

Tom has headed a more serious path with regards to his music with Angels & Airwaves. Together with his new team, he has created a good album, something worth listening to. He has helped make very good music that speaks of relevant topics such as war, loss, hope, and space. The songs in the album are very good in their own way. Each has a life of its own. They do not disappoint.

Upon listening to the album, you can hear how well the band plays their instruments. To give due importance to their knack for playing the instruments, they have made quite long introductions for their songs. They showcased their musical chops in their introductions. Valkyrie Missile, as an example, has an intro that runs 2 minutes and 40 seconds. Distraction had a minute and 9 seconds intro. The technical aspect of the songs are very well arranged. You can see that everything is carefully thought of.

But what makes the album memorable and very nice to listen to is its message. Tom's powerful vocals, which shift depending on the theme of the song, will haunt you and hit you where it should-the heart. Though the lyrics of the song tend to be repetitive at times and are not as great, it still helped make the album memorable. I guess you can also say that you have not heard Tom sing as good as he does in this album. His interpretation of the songs has made each track noteworthy.

In summary, Angels & Airwaves has entered the music scene not as another band with a famous front man but as a band that creates good, memorable, and noteworthy music.
