something that can wait for another. While this is true in regards to small, non-structural repairs, there are certain home repairs that absolutely cannot wait, but for the common person with no experience in the building trades it can be a tough call. Most of the "unnecessary" home repairs fall into the category of aesthetic improvements - painting, wallpaper, carpet, new cabinets, etc., can all wait until the funds become available to upgrade the appearance of your home. While you may not enjoy it, that pea green paint on the kitchen walls won't kill you or damage your property, just make you nauseous.Much like every other area of life, some professional home contractors make their living in an unscrupulous manner from the naivety of the trusting individuals among us. A good rule when dealing with contractors is to never take anything they say at face value - question everything and do your homework. Educate yourself to some extent in the particular area of repairs that need attention, and always get a second opinion from another contractor. Get estimates in writing, don't be afraid to shop around and always check references. While this may seem a little over the top to an easygoing person, you are not being difficult or paranoid, you are merely looking out for your best interests as applied to a very large investment you have undertaken.Beware of Unnecessary Home Repairs
