Dealing with Side Stitches While Running

Side stitches can occur to runners during a workout or during a run and can serious hamper your performance. While they are incredibly painful, you can learn how to limit the occurrence and what to do to stop one here. There are a couple
aspects of your training you should consider. First, look at your diet. By eating proper nutrients, your body will be able to find nutrients quickly and effectively. Your body can allocate energy through your body properly and without any issues. While this may be unrelated to side stitches, it can help you run in a manner that prevents them.Your posture is another issue to look at. When you are leaning over, your diaphragm is not going directly across your body and your lungs are being cramped, unable to get the most oxygen possible. Therefore, reduce the tension going on in your chest by running properly.Breathing is a very important aspect in avoiding side stitches. You want your breathing to be relaxed. If you are experiencing a side stitch, you want to slow down your breathing and then slowing increase it. Don't shallow your breathing. If you do not relax, your diaphragm will not contract and you will not be able to get rid of it. There are a few ways that have been stated to get rid of side stitches. One method is by taking your thumb and pressing it under your rib. By taking your thumb and pressing it into your side, it is suggested that your side stitch will go away because of the shifting of the lung. However, you must get under the ribcage to properly administer this.Another way to get rid of side stitches is to lift the arm of the other side. For an example, if a side stitch is occurring on your right side, lift your left arm above your head. This will flatten out your diaphragm and balance out your lungs. This will open up your airway more and allow your breathing to relax.Dealing with Side Stitches While Running
