How to Swim Laps at Home

One of the most beneficial bodily exercises is swimming. Not only does swimming help tone your muscles, it is also great for the cardiovascular system. Nearly every muscle in your body gets a
workout when you swim; swimming is a powerful calorie burner. Simply put, for most people, swimming is the top method of staying in shape - and it is fun. Unfortunately, even though swimming is the best exercise and great fun, finding a spot at the local swimming pool can be a problem. Oftentimes, pool hours fluctuate from pool to pool. This means there are specific times during the week, and only certain time periods during the day, when one can swim laps. In local pools, lanes are often crowded, which makes it difficult to lap swim properly. Congested lanes also mean there are probably people standing in them doing nothing or talking to their friends. If you enjoy lap swimming but do not take pleasure in frequenting the local pool, consider purchasing your own private lap pool. Home lap pools are a wonderful addition. The only difference between a lap pool and standard pool is its shape and size. For example, whereas many pools are kidney-shaped, lap pools are narrow and long. This shape provides a lot of area in which you can swim laps. A long narrow pool also allows you to note exactly the number of laps you have swum. Because lap pools are only a few feet deep, people who like to dive should not invest in a lap pool. Also, lap pools do not have slides or diving boards because they are too shallow; they are made for those who really enjoy swimming laps. However, you can still just jump in to cool off on a hot summer's day with a lap pool. Lap Pools are great for health and fitness. Owning one cost around $30,000 depending on the area while requiring space and a lot of digging for installation. An alternative for having your own lap pool is the swim spa. It is a tub-like, above ground pool that works like a treadmill. A regulated current keeps you in place while you swim. It is not as expensive as a lap pool and needs lesser space. How to Swim Laps at Home
