What Are the Best Sources Of Resveratrol?

There are many natural sources of the chemical called resveratrol. But it is difficult to categorize the sources in terms as good or better. According to the amount of resveratrol present in the sources they are often termed as good, better and best.

Red grapes provide between .24 and 1.25mg per cup. The variation seems to depend on where they are grown. Boiled peanuts provide between .35mg and 1.28mg. Again, the variation seems to depend on where they were grown or the processing used to boil them.

Boiled peanuts have a higher concentration of resveratrol than raw peanuts. About .35 to 2.13 mg per cup is produced from peanuts.

The concentration of the compound in grape and cranberry juice is similar. Scientists must use a different measuring system to test these beverages. Amounts are not recorded in mg/l, but in nmol/g. In other words, the concentration is much lower. These juices are considered a negligible source at best, although other health benefits are associated with their consumption.

It has been revealed that red wine is the best source of resveratrol. But the amount of red wine that one would require to stay young for a long time is bound to be huge. It is to be noted that red wine is the most potent source of resveratrol. But the amount of resveratrol produced by the roots of the Japnese knotweed is much above the other sources, 187mg/kg.

The amount that is found in red wines varies. All of them contain some. Even white wines contain a small amount, but more than is found in juices.

Resveratrol is a highly concentrated content and has many benefits. The natural resveratrol which is found in the grapes is the best. It is the best because it has the isomeric Resveratrol which is very potent anti oxidant.

The usage of resveratrol as a anti oxidant has increased day by day, thanks to the amazing benefits of the resveratrol. As a result of which resveratrol supplements have come into play.

There are some supplements on the market with a very high content, as much as 200mg per serving. A moderate amount, 20-50mg per day is a better choice to stay fit.
