What can make you blood test slightly for opiates?

Are there different things that do this? A person I know tested this way and has a court appearance. If this person is on probation, are there substances or foods or legal medications that can make you test positive for opiates? I am told that opiates means you have heroin in your blood. Is that the only substance that makes blood test positive for opiates?
