(Cutting fat before a competition can be brutal.) The perfect diet for a body builder would help you cut fat without losing muscle. Cutting fat without losing muscle is a problem with almost all fad diets; they may help you loose weight most people don't realize that you are losing muscle along with fat. How would you feel if I told you that the perfect diet for body builders who are trying to cut fat already exists? Well it does and it is called the Cyclical Ketogenic Diet, or CKD.The Cyclical Ketogenic Diet goes in cycles. A person in the first cycle will be consuming low carbs, high proteins, and high fats. A person in the second cycle will consume high carbs, high protein, and low fat. Cycle 1 is 5-6 days long while cycle 2 is 1-2 days long. The CKD and its cycles fit bodybuilders because it helps raise growth promoting hormones such as HGH and testosterone.Another hormone that promotes growth and is really affected by the CKD is Insulin. Insulin is secreted in the body as a response to our carbohydrate intake. Since our carb intake will be very low it goes without saying that our insulin levels will be low. This is the whole thought process behind loading up on carbs once a week. (If you train at a high intensity you might want to add a second day of carb loading sometime mid-week.) When you load up on the carbs your insulin level will spike. The increased insulin will help move amino acids into your muscles and will also refill your levels of muscle glycogen. The muscles in our bodies store glycogen like a gas tank stores fuel for a car. The carbohydrate loading cycle fills up these reserves, they are then emptied when we workout. A lot of diets are high in carbs but when we eat too many carbs our muscles become overloaded with glycogen. The excess glycogen is then stored in the liver and any excess is converted to triglyceride. Triglycerides are stored as fat, which isn't something that suits bodybuilders. The Cyclical Ketogenic Diet: The Perfect Diet for Bodybuilders
