A Review of the Sole S73 Treadmill

by Travis Van Slooten

When you star looking at treadmills between $1,000 and $2,000 dollars, you will be hard-pressed to find better a better value than a Sole. You get great construction quality and a smooth, comfortable run. You may not get as many gizmos, but you still get a solid machine. Sole continues that tradition with the S73. For anyone looking to spend less, but still get a quality run without the gimmick technology on many treadmills, you can usually find success looking at the Sole brand.

The S73 is essentially the non-folding twin of the F83. Almost all of the pieces are the same except you end up paying just a little bit less. However, if you have the space for a non-folding treadmill, you do get a few benefits to owning a model with no folding parts. Non-folding treadmills tend to feel much more stable due to the lack of extra parts required to fold up. The quality of the run may be better for some individuals as well. Not only does the non-folding aspect make it more stable, the 250 pound weight gives you a very solid run.

The S73 features the 2.75 inch rollers that have become synonymous with Sole machines. These are thicker than standard, and are slower to wear down meaning that your treadmill lasts much, much longer. The 58 inch belt is long enough for everyone except the very tallest runners, and is powered by a 3 HP motor. As you would expect from Sole, there is a very comprehensive lifetime warranty on the frame and motor, while the major parts are covered for 5 years, and there is even a 2 year labor warranty too.

In this case, it turns out that Sole's biggest competition is itself. Were this the only model Sole made in the price range, it would be easy to recommend it. But Sole has some other comparable treadmills that give you just as much, sometimes for cheaper. It's hard to see the niche that the S73 is trying to fill. While it is a very good treadmill, there are other Sole models that are worth considering as well. Especially since only a tiny price difference separates some of them.

You should definitely make sure to do your homework and get the model that is best for you before you spend your money. But if you do end up with an S73, you will have a reliable machine that will offer you years of great running.
