Round The Bay30 KTechnically, this race is in Hamilton and not the Greater Toronto Area, but because of history and uniqueness it must be included in this list. The 2010 date has been set for March 28. This race is capped at 7000 participants, so if you like to get lost in the crowd, this is a perfect race. The first ever Round The Bay was run in 1894, 3 years before the first Boston Marathon, making it the longest running road race in North America. The race starts and finishes at Copps Coliseum in downtown Hamilton and, as the name indicates, runs around the bay or Hamilton Harbour. The only setback to this race is the unpredictable weather that is experienced in Southern Ontario at the end of March.Mississauga MarathonThis race took place on May 10, 2009 and a 2010 race date has yet to be finalized. The race starts at Square One Shopping Centre, meanders its way through the city of Mississauga and ends along the shores of Lake Ontario at Lakefront Promenade Park. This is another busy race with thousands of entrants. The roads are wide and very accommodating to the crowds, except for the finish area where the course narrows to a small bike path lined with spectators. This is a flat, fast course.Toronto Women's Half MarathonThe date for this race is set for May 30, 2010. As per the name, this is a women's race. However, men can still participate but cannot win any prizes or cross the finish line before the first woman. The start and finish of this 21.1 km course starts and finishes in Sunnybrook Park at Eglinton and Leslie. The number of participants is capped at 1500.Mississauga Bread and Honey 15 kmThe shortest of the 9 races, its 2010 date is set for June 6. This race has been run since 1979 through the streets of the Streetsville area of Mississauga. It is just one of the festivities of the Streetsville Bread and Honey festival.Acura Toronto 10 MilerToronto Races
