Can You Smoke Cigars Right After Buying Them?

When it comes to smoking cigars, you will find that a lot of fiction is mingled in with the facts. Tales about what you can and cannot do with your cigars has been around for ages, even since before the first humidor was invented. Long ago, people thought that they could dip their cigars into rum and that it would add moisture. While this may have worked, the invention of the humidor, as well as torch lighters, has made things quite a bit easier on cigar aficionados.

One of the most common "rules" when it comes to cigars is that you are not supposed to smoke them right after you buy them. Is this true, or was it some myth concocted by someone ages ago. Actually, this is more truth than myth. The reason for this is that you don't know how long the cigars have been sitting on the shelf, and not tucked away in a humidor. This could mean that the cigar does not have the optimum amount of moisture to ensure a good taste and a good experience.

Most of the better cigar shops are going to keep the cigars in the humidor to make sure that they are at their best. However, if you are buying from a place you have never been, you aren't going to know their practices. When this is the case, you might find that you have a better experience when you take the cigars home and store them in your own humidor for a day or two. This will give the cigar time to regain the moisture that it needs.

In this case, you should take your cigars home and put them into your own humidor at home. You will want to leave the cigars inside the humidor for a few days so that you can be sure that it has the proper amount of moisture. This will give the cigar a better taste and you will find that smoking it is far more enjoyable. Those who don't have a humidor of their own can always see if they can store the cigars in the humidor at the shop until they are ready to pick them up. Most shops will let you do this.

Always care properly for your cigars so that you have a great smoking experience. Don't let dryness curb your enthusiasm for a nice cigar. If you don't have a humidor, consider buying one to keep at the house for you cigars.
