Does Ativan help with the side effects when you start taking Effexor?

I've been on Ativan for Anxiety/Panic...and my therapist wants to start me on Effexor this week, but I'm concernced about the side effects.

Will/Should the Ativan assist me through some of the rougher initial side effects?

Anyone experience this combo?
