Drinkaware Responds To fpa Research Revealing Alcohol Influences Sexual Decision Making

Reacting to research from the fpa which reveals that alcohol influences sexual decision making, Chris Sorek, Chief Executive of Drinkaware, says :

"People can often feel invincible on a night out, so it's important to think carefully about how much you're drinking and remember that alcohol can affect your ability to make rational decisions. Excessive drinking can lead to risky behaviour including having unsafe sex.

"As well as increasing the risk of sexually transmitted infections and unplanned pregnancies, drinking too much has other short and long term implications. Regularly exceeding the daily unit guidelines* can also increase your chances of developing serious health conditions like liver disease, some cancers and depression. Having only a few too many can also result in disturbed sleep, bad skin and weight gain.

"Try using Drinkaware's unit calculator to keep track of your unit intake and help avoid having any regrets: http://www.drinkaware.co.uk/tips-and-tools/drink-diary/"

*Drinkaware advises men to stay within the recommended guidelines of 3-4 units of alcohol per day (a pint of standard lager) and women to stay within 2-3 units per day (a 175ml glass of wine).
