How can alcohol aggravate various risk factors if an alcoholic does not undergo alcoholism treatment?

I have noticed that every time a person consults a doctor and is diagnosed with an illness, he is advised to stop from drinking alcohol. The same thing happened to me. My doctor told me to stop drinking alcohol because he said it will make my condition worse.
