How to Repair Car Roof Upholstery?

I have a Chevy Caprice and plan on restoring it myself. I want to change the interior, so what materials do I need to change the car roof upholstery? If you are educated in this area-please list for me step by step what materials to exactly purchase and how to repair it-thank you!! FYI-I priced how much it would cost to complete professionally and it was around 0 and the floors were 0, so at least I know that I have that option if all doesn't go well.
