Some of the fish you can expect to catch in Florida are grouper, snapper, snook, sheepshead, redfish, sharks, along with many others. Although fishing offshore can be wonderful and offer big fish, you can get good results fishing inshore also.
Not everyone has the luxury to fish from a boat, no worries though because Florida has hundreds of fishing piers that offer excellent fishing. Some of these fishing piers may charge a fee to fish from and others like the Fort Desoto piers, are free of charge.
Surf fishing also provides excellent fishing if the conditions are right. Some of the conditions that I consider to be good are if there are rocks, and not many people swimming around. Also it is best to fish from the beach when the water is not extremely choppy.
If you have access to a dock, specifically one that has a light shining in the water then this will make great for some night fishing. Snook can almost always be found around a dock that has a light on at night time, along with sheepshead and snapper.
With thousands of bridges in Florida, there is always a spot to do some inshore saltwater fishing. Not all bridges allow you to fish from them, but you can usually fish under them too. Some great bridges to fish from are the old sunshine skyway bridge in Saint Petersburg and the 7 mile bridge in the Keys.
See there are many alternatives to fishing from a boat, and they can be very productive if you have the right bait and tackle set up. The best way to find out what tackle to use is to ask the locals, also bait and tackle shop owners always have good information on places where you can catch fish.
