What would the best way to get off Methadone?

I have been at a Methadone clinic for 2 years and I feel it would be the best if I came off it now. If you have done this before or know someone that has,I liked to know how they did it or the best way to do it, and if they made it through the procsess. I feel this is going to be a rough journey.
