Tropic Thunder: Desperate to get more out of his spoiled actors, while filming an epic war Vietnam War film, director Damien Cockburn makes a bold move. He litters the jungle with cameras, plans some diversions, and throws the actors in the jungle on their own to fend for themselves. They think it's only a movie, but soon the bullets coming at the actors are real.
Deep Impact: With a comet on a collision course for Earth. A decision is made to send a space ship out to intercept the comet, and 'seed' it with nuclear bombs. From Russia With Love: Second James Bond film is one of the best; lots of anticipation and action, and one of the lengthiest, most arousing fight scenes ever orchestrated. The Incredible Gentleman: A well known and beloved Television megastar dies and Ferrer disposes his commemoratory show, only to find the megastar was a disgraceful fake. Al Morgan adjusted Morgan's thinly veiled novel in regards to Arthur Godfrey. Cast includes Jose Ferrer, Dean Jagger, Keenan Wynn, Julie London, Jim Backus, and Ed Wynn. (92 minutes, 1956)
Life With Father: Powerful adaptation of a long running Broadway play by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crusoe based on Clarence Night's tale of growing up in turn-of-the-century NYC with his admiring although offbeat dad. This is utterly admirable, and a handsome production also. The Screen-play is by Donald Ogden Stewart. Cast includes William Powell, Irene Dunne, Elizabeth Taylor, Edmund Gwenn, ZaSu Pitts, Jimmy Lydon, and Matlin Milner. (118 minutes, 1947)
House Springs: Having just been ditched by his fiance Driver, British actor Firth heads to the U.S. and falls for Graham. Then, wouldn't you know it, Minnie shows up. There are good acting jobs from everyone, although not enough chuckles for a romantic comedy. The film is based on the novel New Cardiff by Charles Webb.
