A Good Search Engine Ranking Tool Helps

by Nigel Evans

The world of search engine optimization is constantly changing and it is both an art and a science in many respects. Fundamentally, however the same is true as always -- if you want to rank highly for the primary key words that are most appropriate for your product or service, you must make sure that your site is both well optimized and adequately composed. If you pay particular and ongoing attention to these areas, you will find that over time you will achieve your rightful place and your site will be seen as relevant. Pick up as many products, services and appropriate tools as you can including a search engine ranking tool.

None of us exist in a vacuum and this is true in the world of Internet marketing as well. You must keep an eye on your competitors and try and find an edge to put you ahead. Numerous products can help you do this and a search engine ranking tool will enable you to see your position in relation to your primary rivals.

There are number of sites that can tell you where you rank for your keyword and also in relation to others, although the efficiency of these sites can be somewhat mixed. Check out Google rankings, which is one of the sites in question, although you will need a Google API tool to see results from the most important engine. Unless you already have one of these tools, they are not issuing them anymore.

Designers and engineers have come up with a variety of tools to help you in the world of Internet marketing and you can find many of them if you join one of the appropriate membership sites online. Wealthy Affiliate, for example, has a variety of top class tools relating to article marketing and pay per click to help you achieve an edge.

A search engine ranking tool would definitely be of value if you are currently involved in a major promotional campaign. It is always good to be able to see where you rank in relation to a major keyword and how this improves as your optimization campaign continues.

Within Internet marketing, good reasoning dictates that you should be trying to rank for long tail keywords relating to your niche. It is very difficult and sometimes not worth it to try and rank for very heavily trafficked keywords. It is reasoned that people generally search specifically and the multi-word query string that they enter, known as a long tail keyword, may be much more appropriate as you try and convert them to buyers of your product or service.

Google has a free selection of tools which will enable you to see how popular individual keywords are in relation to the number of searches made for them on a monthly basis. You can see whether it is worth it trying to rank for those words according to how many people are looking for them. Once you have done this, enter the keyword in the Google search box surrounded by quotes. This result will show you how many websites are actually trying to rank for that keyword with the lower the overall number, the more interested you should be.

Internet marketing is so complicated that if you are a newcomer you owe it to yourself to join some of the first class membership sites online, which will help you to get a good education as quickly as possible, to interact with people who are already in your sphere and to shortcut what would otherwise be a long and difficult educational process.
