My Ativan container says that I should NOT SWALLOW OR CHEW the tablet?

Why is it such a big deal if I swallow or chew it as opposed to letting it dissolve?

How does Ativan differ from Clonazepam.

If I have gained a tolerance for Clonazepam, would I also have a tolerance for Ativan?

Ativan = Lorazepam.
