slow processing speed?

first of all I have a slow processing speed based disability..... I am in my first semester of college and enjoying it I can pretty much spout off any of the information given to me durring class as well as from reading over my notes... However my problems are mainly attention based. I find that I tend to fidget alot as well as I have major attentional issues. I cant sit down and do writing assignment it feels like torcher when I do get into it I write around 10 to 20 pages in a night. When I am not in the mood it takes me around like well days. I have always had issues with grammer and punctuation. Mainly because I just have issues in that area I guess probably part of my disability. I actually was diagnosed with attention defficite as a child it was only identified as Slow visual processing when I attended college. I also apparently show symptoms of high impulsivity. I am somewat frustrated and tired at this point, I am not as successful as I want to be and I am
finding help hard to find. I was refered to a learning strategist who in my intake compared me to his lazy son. I didn't take that overly well basically attended 3 more meetings with him and after he basically told me that I don't have many issues compared to the rest of the people he deals with, I made the decition to stop seeing him. Unfortunatly he is the most respected professional in my college in dealing with students with learning disabilities. At this point in time I have some 80s and 90s in some of my courses, in others I struggle(I am currently taking developmental psychology, I have 90's and 80's in my developmental studies class as well as my abnormal psychology class) the courses I am struggling with are my ethics course and positive psychology. It probably should be noted that I wasnt diagnosed with attention defficite for a second time because of the symptom check list (which I maybe might of filled out with less results then I should have due to the fac
t I am sick of dealing with councilors who call me lazy) as well as refer to my disability as being brain damage. (which i guess it could be but id rather it not be referred to as that) It should also be mentioned that maybe the reason I am referred to as lazy is I have a high ability to think logically. I think when councilors look at my iq results they dont see a problem. Anyways I would like to know alternatives I have to deal with this disability, I would also like to know if there are any medications and anyones opinion on my attention defficite issue just weather or not it is possible that I have a dual diagnosis of ADD(inattentive) and visual processing speed disorder(which i deffinitially have. I just want information and coping strategies as well as maybe more information I know
id also like to know the difference between this and dyslexia. From what slow visual based processing speed sounds very similar to dyslexia and im wondering the difference?
