What is the best way to waterproof my basement? OR reputable companies?

I have just had an eye opening experience. A waterproofing company came out and expected my basement for some tie rods rusting and a couple of small cracks. Turns out I have a couple of big cracks and water sitting in the base of my poured concrete walls. I understood everything the inspector was saying, but the price was outrageous. ,000. They're a national company and very reputable, but they're trying to sell me a system that is "theirs"(it is patented by them). I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this type of problem, what they did to solve the problem and do I really need to dig up my entire foundation. The simple solution of patching with epoxy puddy is just that, simple and not long lasting. Help, this is serious!!!
