Is it only worth buying an alienware laptop maxed?

Im in a bit of a bind. I dont have much money but I really want that alienware m71x laptop. The bad thing I only heard that it performs good with it maxed, not just regular. what do you think? This is for gaming of course.

What do you think? Will the regular run my games well? I dont want TF2 or Left 4 Dead lagging on me or anything. What about Crysis?
