How To Make Your Furniture Whitewash

The popularity of whitewash furniture is something that has changed over time. At the moment its popularity is in state rapid incline and a result of this is that prices are soaring. There are places that you can buy high quality white furniture such as beds and bedside tables for good a good price, but if you want to make your own here is how.1.Firstly you need to sand the piece of furniture down that you want to whitewash. A sanding block or electrical sander should be suitable to do this but you might need to strip it chemically if there is a thick build up of paint on the piece. You now need to clean the wood thouroughly to get rid of any dirt of sawdust. Wait for wood to dry2.Next mix together two parts white latex paint with one parts water in a container. you need to get hold of a 3" high quality paint brush and make sure you have a moist clean cloth to wipe away any mistakes you make. Brush the wood following along the line of the grain and use broad sweeping strokes.
because the paint is watery, the wood will soak it up so you need to make sure you go over each patch well.3.When the piece is completely covered and still damp, wipe over it with a clean cloth until the grain starts to show through again. This will make the wood appear like it has a light stain and if you want a thicker more weathered look, simply repeat the previous steps to build up the layer.4.When you are happy with the look, give it a light sanding again to bring out the grain again and then seal the wood using clear satin polyurethane. let the substance dry before taking an abrasive nylon pad to it and rubbing gently over it. Repeat this as many times as you like until you get a look you like. Use this method to create a great white wardrobes, bedside table or even dresser.
