Unusual gifts for the descerning individual

Unlike some furry mammals who are visible throughout the year until they hibernate, the common hot water bottle does the opposite. You are not likely to catch a glimpse of it until the first signs of winter begin to appear. Then, hey presto! You will often see it hiding at the bottom of the bedOf course this is nonsense, but I just wanted to highlight that for most of us a hot water bottle is an aesthetically-challenged object. In fact I cannot remember the last time that I actually bought one. it would have probably been a last minute Christmas present for an elderly relative. We as as nation still appear to be 'tied' totally to them. It was George Mikes, a British author of Hungarian descent, who once poked fun at us as a nation. In his hilarious book 'How to be an Alien' he remarks "Continental people have sex lives, the English have hot water bottles'. It is possible that there was an element of truth in the parody, especially in the days when designs were bland and uninte
resting. These words probably reflect the way a typical person on the continent sees the English attitude to sex.But wait a minute! Many things have changed since then. Could it be possible that these things have become 'sexy'? I found a site that other day that stocks many styles and shapes that are different from those that you would normally see. If ever I was looking for something slightly quirky or different that couldn't be found in the high street, this site would be the first place to look. They have everything here, from buddha statues to retro telephones, and most things in between! For anyone interested solely in hot water bottles, the ones that appealed to me were the cushioned shaped products. These looked extremely comfortable, and may even offer great therapeutic value - especially to sufferers of aching necks and lower backs. For the environmentally conscious, they are also manufactured from recyclable material and are guaranteed not to fade.
