Waterproofing my basement?

im thinking of adding a basement to my house design,but I have been told one thing i need to be careful of is seepage, checking on the net i found that bentonite is a good sealant, my question here is can i add bentonite to my concrete mix and therefore make a waterproof concrete block? as the other alternatives sound more complicated
