what are the lasting effects if you survive an ecstasy overdose?

someone very close to me od on ecstasy. i was the only person to witness it and it was very horrific. we dont do that crap any more. i am so thankful he is alive, and there is no obvious damage from the overdose that we can see. but he hasn't been to a doctor since. he is going this week, but i just want to know if there is any lasting damage to the body that can be caused by an MDA overdose?
