Recently in Jewellery Quarters Birmingham, we opened a new nepali restaurant. We were trying so hard to give it a completely different look and atmosphere compare to other Nepali restaurants in the UK. Basically we wanted to bring Nepal in to the UK. We wanted traditional yet modern furniture and interiors. On one of the family gathering, we were discussing on how we can bring something different, which is not already there, so we decided on a gourmet Nepali restaurant. All of us made an effort to look for the location and the venue, we were fortunate enough to find the place in the heart of Birmingham, which was built in exactly the way we wanted it for our decor. Then it was time for the restaurant furniture, as this was our first family business as a group we knew we wanted a traditional but modern furniture, so we decided to goto Nepal and look for ideas there regarding the furniture. Lots of old antiques and cultural decor were picked from our homes and used at the restaur
ant.We found this very hard to do, to look for contemporary furniture. As we knew the look and decor of the restaurant is one of the things people/customers will judge. We did a lot of research on what to buy and why to buy, we tried to think outside the box and put our ideas together. We need to research and find furniture and decor which hasn't been seen anywhere else, so it catches customer's eye and they come back over and over because they feel comfortable within the atmosphere. We were not afraid to experiment. We found what works best for us in our present situation. A tip if you are choosing something to buy would be select it with flexibility and versality in mind and do a lot of research.
