Can a psychiatrist prescribe medical marijuana in states where it is legal?

i am a young girl looking into going to the oaksterdam college to be a grower.but i am also looking into being a psychiatrist.not all in the same of course its one or the other.but my question is simple and i want a pretty simple answer.can a psychiatrist prescribe medical marijuana in the states that allow medical marijuana?
