How long does it take for methadone to get out of your system ?

I have to go to a job interview in the morning and it requires a drug test somewhere along the line but I go to a methadone clinic and so I am wondering how long it takes to show up as clean.I know I sure don't want to ten day detox,that's for sure.

  1. Methadone takes a minimum of ten days to get out of your system. However, stopping abruptly can be extremely dangerous--even fatal.

    Your employer CANNOT discriminate against you for being on methadone--you are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). When you go to the lab to be tested they will ask you what Rx drugs you take. You can get a letter from your clinic saying you are prescribed methadone, or show them an empty takehome bottle.

    Many places only use a 5 panel screen which does not test for methadone. Methadone does not test as an opiate--it has to have it's own screen. However, more and more employers are now using a ten panel screen which DOES test for methadone. Therefore you should always tell the truth, because while they cannot discriminate against you for being on methadone, they CAN refuse to hire you for lying on your drug screen.
